Registering with the WCB
(SASKATCHEWAN WORKER'S COMPENSATION BOARD)

All employers operating in industries that are covered under the Saskatchewan's legislation and who employ workers on a regular basis must register and establish an account with the WCB.

We make it easy to register for WCB. Check for the instructions below.

Register Online for WCB in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) is an independent body created by provincial legislation to administer a workplace injury and illness compensation system on behalf of workers and employers. The Workers' Compensation Act applies to all employers and workers in Saskatchewan from the time they begin employment.

Workers' compensation is a no-fault system that protects employers and workers against the result of work injuries. The system has brought stability by providing coverage at a competitive cost and protecting workers and employers against the risks and uncertainties of litigation.

Registering with the WCB provides financial protection, medical treatment and rehabilitation services to workers and their dependents in case of injury or death arising out of, and in course of their employment.

The following step-by-step guide will assist you in the registration process

1. Who Needs to Register

Businesses in Saskatchewan are automatically covered by the province's workers' compensation legislation.

There are a few industries that do not have to register. These include:

  • Artists, entertainers and performers;
  • Circus operations, travelling shows and tradeshows;
  • Dairy farming;
  • Livestock brokers;
  • Travel agencies
  • Sports professionals, sports instructors, players and coaches;
  • Poultry farms ;
  • Salepersons who sell goods for more than one manufacturer or supplier;
  • Dairy farming;

This is not a complete list as there are more industries that do not have to register. For more information, please contact us or the WCB directly.

Even if your company is in one of these categories, you can still choose to insure your workers through the WCB. Contact us about applying for coverage for your business.

Optional Coverage
Farm workers, farmers and the self-employed are not automatically covered by the WCB. However, people in these groups can apply for coverage if they meet the definition of a "worker" set out in legislation.
